The most popular type now is aluminum profile radiators, which have a smaller material density and lighter overall weight. The heat dissipation performance of aluminum alloy materials in aluminum profile radiators is not inferior to copper, but they are much cheaper than pure copper in terms of price, so they are currently widely used.
When installing aluminum profiles for heat dissipation, it is necessary to ensure that the actual junction temperature during the operation of semiconductor power devices is lower than the large junction temperature. Industrial aluminum profiles with small volume and light weight should be selected.
2. The heat dissipation effect of aluminum profile radiators is closely related to the industrial aluminum profile process. During installation, the contact area between power devices and radiators should be maximized to reduce contact thermal resistance and improve heat transfer efficiency.
3. Try to reduce the contact thermal resistance as much as possible. When installing, adding a thin layer of thermal conductive silicone grease between the power device and the heat sink can reduce the thermal resistance by 25-30%.
4. During installation, thermal conductivity or insulation gaskets need to be placed between the device and the aluminum profile heat sink. Low thermal resistance materials such as copper foil, aluminum foil, or thin mica, polyester film, etc. are suitable.
5. When installing a device, its installation hole (or group hole) is placed in the center (L/2) of the radiator base surface. When installing two or more devices, the installation holes (or group holes) are evenly distributed (L/2n) above the centerline of the radiator base.
6. When tightening the device, it is necessary to ensure that the screw torque is consistent.
7. After the installation of the heat sink and power device, it is not advisable to process or shape the power device and heat sink with industrial aluminum profiles, as this will generate stress and increase contact thermal resistance.
8. Single sided ribbed aluminum profile heat sink is suitable for natural air cooling outside the equipment (such as installed outside the chassis), which is conducive to ventilation and heat dissipation of power devices while reducing internal temperature rise.
