Aluminum alloy is widely used in heat dissipation equipment due to its lightweight and beautiful appearance, good thermal conductivity, and easy processing into complex shapes. There are three main types of aluminum alloy heat dissipation equipment: flat wide, comb shaped, or fishbone shaped; The outer heat sink of a circular or elliptical shape is radiating; Branch shaped. The characteristic is that the distance between the heat dissipation fins is short, and a groove is formed between adjacent heat dissipation fins, with a large aspect ratio; The wall thickness difference is large, and generally the heat dissipation fins are thin. Industrial aluminum profiles have a large base plate thickness at the root. Therefore, it brings great difficulties to the mold design of heat dissipation profiles, the manufacturing and production of industrial aluminum profiles. Some aluminum profiles for radiators are relatively easy to produce due to their smaller size and symmetrical shape. Most radiator profiles are flat and wide, with larger overall dimensions and some are asymmetrical. The groove shape between the heat dissipation fins has a large aspect ratio, making production difficult. Several issues need to be noted in order to successfully produce radiator profiles.

Reduce squeezing force. To prevent mold tooth breakage, the extrusion force should be minimized as much as possible, which is related to factors such as the length of the ingot, the resistance to alloy deformation, the state of the ingot, and the degree of deformation. Therefore, the casting rod for extruded heat dissipation aluminum profiles should not be too long, approximately 0.6-0.85 times the normal casting rod length. Especially when testing and squeezing a casting rod, in order to ensure the smooth production of qualified products, shorter casting rods, i.e. casting rods with a normal length (0.4-0.6) times, are used for mold testing.

Extrusion process. The key to the production of radiator profiles is a trial run of the extrusion mold. If conditions permit, simulation tests can be conducted on a computer to see if the working strip designed for industrial aluminum profiles is reasonable, and then trial runs can be conducted on the extrusion machine. A mold trial is very important, and the operator needs to make the main plunger move forward slowly under a low pressure of less than 8MPa when pressing up. The characteristics of industrial aluminum profiles are that people use flashlight light to look at the mold outlet, and after each heat sink of the extrusion mold evenly presses the mold hole, gradually pressurize and accelerate the extrusion. When continuing extrusion after successful mold testing, attention should be paid to controlling the extrusion speed and achieving smooth operation. When producing radiator profiles, attention should be paid to the heating temperature of the mold, so that the mold temperature is similar to the ingot temperature. If the temperature difference is too large, due to the slow extrusion speed during pressing, the metal temperature will decrease, leading to mold blockage or uneven flow rate.
